Our Values

Things important to us and our business..

SUPPORTING LOCAL 

  • Growing up with parents in small business and farming, I know first hand the importance of supporting local. It fills me with joy to personally collect the cucumbers, chilli, garlic and dill (seasonally) directly from the farms, even though it means several different stops.

  • We choose to use Australian Murray River Salt Flakes in our ferments. Their salt is sustainably harvested and assists the environment by reducing salinity (along with being rich in minerals and tasting amazing!). 


REDUCING WASTE

  • Our products are packaged in glass jars, which is better for you (never ferment in plastic) and the environment. The jars can be either recycled or reused (the 1L pickle jars are great for storing pantry items!).

  • The fresh food scraps generated are either composted or fed to my Mums goats or chickens.

  • I avoid plastic packaging wherever possible and any little bit that is generated in the process (like the plastic that comes wrapped around our jars when we buy them), is recycled via REDCycle.

REAL WHOLEFOOD INGREDIENTS

  • All ingredients included in our products are made with ingredients that have grown/originated from the ground (not manufactured in a lab). To me, if something has not grown from or walked on the earth (with minimal or no processing), it does not belong in our bodies.

  • No preservatives, additives, colourings or flavourings (or even any "natural flavourings" which are not actually that natural). Our products are naturally preserved via the process of fermentation.

ORGANIC (where possible)

  • Organic ingredients are used as much as possible, though some ingredients (such as the same-day picked baby cucumbers required for our pickles) are not locally available organic. We do however use organic garlic (local) and spices.
